GAY AND LESBIAN RIGHTS TO BE SUBJECT OF TALK AT U.VA. LAW SCHOOL CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Oct. 5 -- Kate Kendall, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights in San Francisco, will speak at the University of Virginia School of Law at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Her talk in Room 110 is open to the public and is sponsored by the U.Va. Gay and Lesbian Law Students Association and the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia's gay and lesbian rights committee. Kendall's talk about the current status of gay and lesbian rights will take place the day before U.S. Supreme Court arguments regarding Evans v. Romer, the Colorado case in which the state is seeking to remove current protection for gay and lesbian rights. The National Center for Lesbian Rights is a non-profit public interest group founded in 1977 to work through the courts and legal system to eradicate discrimination against lesbians and gay men.
