PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT WRITERS' HARVEST AGAINST HUNGER On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the University of Virginia Bookstore in association with Share Our Strength will sponsor the Fourth Annual Writers' Harvest Against Hunger. Join area writers Karl and Jennifer Ackerman, Susan Garrett, Deborah Eisenberg, Elizabeth Denton and Sydney Blair at 7:30 p.m. in Garrett Hall as they read selections from their current and forthcoming works. There will be no set admission fee, but members of the audience will be asked to make a donation (with a suggested minimum of $5) to benefit the Thomas Jefferson Area Food Bank. Sydney Blair is the author of the novel "Buffalo" and is currently at work on a second novel. Jennifer Ackerman wrote the critically acclaimed nature book, "Notes From the Shore." Deborah Eisenberg has written two story collections: "Under the Eighty-Second Airborne" and "Transactions in a Foreign Country." Susan Garrett's "Taking Care of Our Own" recounts her days as an administrator of a small-town hospital. Karl Ackerman is the author of the comic novel, "The Patron Saint of Unmarried Women." Elizabeth Denton's collection of short stories "Kneeling on Rice" was published by the University of Missouri Press in 1994. For more information, call the U.Va.
