RELEASE ON RECEIPT THE WORKS OF LIZA MARTIN CREATE "FLIGHT PATTERNS" AT FAYERWEATHER GALLERY OPENING CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Oct. 7 -- The University of Virginia's Fayerweather Gallery will host an opening highlighting the paintings, drawings, and prints of Liza Martin, McIntire Department of Art visiting faculty member. "Flight Patterns" opens with a reception on Friday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. The exhibition runs through Nov. 7. "Flight Patterns" features Martin's abstract works in oil, print, and mixed media. Since locating in Charlottesville, Martin has been working at her Keswick studio. "Painting outside here has affected my colors," she said. Her works capture a combination of gesture and form and reveal her concern for the way people and animals move, especially the flight of birds. Martin studied at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia where she received her M.F.A. earlier this year. She teaches drawing and printmaking, her specialty. The reception is free and open to the public. ### October 7, 1997 For more information, contact Liza Martin at (804) 924-7051 or the McIntire Department of Art at (804) 924-6123.
