MEDIA ADVISORY William A. McDonough, University of Virginia Architecture School dean and renowned environmental architect, will participate in "The White House Conference on Climate Change: The Challenge of Global Warming." The all-day conference is being held Monday, Oct. 6 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. McDonough will participate with President Clinton, Vice President Gore, senior cabinet members and a few select leaders in business, industry, and academia to discuss topics that challenge the United States in relation to issues of global warming and climate change, the role of technology in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, climate change policy and the U.S. economy as well as the country's role in the upcoming Kyoto Negotiations. The 1996 recipient of the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development, the nation's highest environmental award, McDonough is director of U.Va.'s Institute for Sustainable Design.
