MEDIA ADVISORY EXPERT TO DISCUSS CONTROVERSIES OVER SEPARATION OF POWERS AT MILLER CENTER FORUM A bipartisan national commission aimed at helping to clarify disputes over separation of powers, will sponsor a talk at the University of Virginia's Miller Center for Public Affairs on Monday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. Katy Jean Harriger, professor of politics at Wake Forest University, will lead a discussion about the growing number of controversies over presidential, judicial and congressional power and responsibilities. Harriger is author of "Independent Justice: The Federal Special Prosecutor in American Politics," as well as numerous articles and essays about the separation of powers and the politics of independent counsels. Headed by former U.S. Sen. Howard W. Baker Jr. and former U.S. Attorney General Griffin Bell, the Miller Center's Commission on Separation of Powers is examining the American presidency.
