FAMILY WEEKEND MEDIA ADVISORY


	At  2  p.m., on Friday, Oct. 31, University of Virginia President 
John T. Casteen III will present the Thomas Jefferson Award to a faculty 
member and intermediate honors to 661 third-year students at the Annual Fall 
Convocation on the South Lawn. Featured speaker will be Faculty Senate 
Chairman R. Jahan Ramazani. Rainsite is University Hall. 

	Convocation, a part of Family Weekend, coincides with the 10th Annual 
Virginia Film Festival. On Oct. 30, Oscar-winner Jason Robards will open the 
festival at Culbreth Theatre with a discussion of  his film "Long Day's

Breakfast Meeting.  Dean M. Rick Turner will give annual state of African 
Americans Affairs address. Chemistry Building.
	% 9:30-11 a.m. University Forum.  U.Va. President Casteen will give 
remarks on the South Lawn, followed by a Q&A session for parents with 
administrations and student leaders.

Sunday, Nov. 2
