Media Advisory

A memorial service for Dr. Edward Watson Hook Jr. will be held on
Saturday,
October 31, 1998, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Old Cabell Hall
Auditorium
at the University of Virginia. Dr. Hook was a professor of medicine and
former chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University
of
Virginia Health Sciences Center.  Hook was internationally known for his
research in infectious diseases, especially in the areas of salmonella
and
influenza.
