If I could give one piece of advice to incoming international students!

Don't just enclose yourself to meeting other international students make an effort to get to know people from all different backgrounds, even if beforehand you never thought you would. College is about gaining life experiences, and learning takes place outside of the classroom as well. Don't be afraid to branch out.
What class do you think is a “must take” for any UVA student and why?

Comparative Politics 101. The class presents an interesting challenge to our usual conventions and assumptions about the development of social groups and nations. Professor Waldner is also an engaging lecturer who knows his material and keeps the students interested.
My favorite event that I've attended at UVA:

The first American football game was a bit of a culture shock! It was great to see everyone out there singing the songs, people dressed up, having a good time. It was a memorable experience, seeing everyone come together though to be honest I still have no idea as to how American football works!
The best place to grab food:

The best place to grab food for an affordable price is Basil, 14th Street Side of the Corner. It's real hearty food, mostly Mediterranean cuisine. They also have great pizzas and a fine selection of imported (mostly Belgian) beers, if you're of age. The best place to grab a late bite would have to be the White Spot, though it tends to get crowded on weekends. “Gus burgers” are a must and a UVa Tradition.
Out of all colleges, why did you choose UVa?

Many people ask why I chose UVa, coming from Dominican Republic and with no previous ties to this institution. I think this is answered the moment you come and visit Grounds. This is a magnificent school, in all sense of the word and you can really sense the student body takes pride in being a part of it. Everyone is also welcoming and glad to help which is something I didn't feel at other schools that are similarly ranked in terms of education or size. Basically, the people here, from students to staff, make UVa stand out.
