As a transferring student, are there any specific housing options for me?

U.Va. has an on-Grounds housing area specifically designed to support transfer students in their transition to the University community. The Gooch/Dillard area, an upperclass suite-style residential facility, houses both newly transferred students as well as returning upperclass students. The Gooch/Dillard community provides an opportunity for you to not only interact with new students whose experiences are similar to yours, but to also get to know other upper-class students who can help connect you to UVa's academic and social life.

The Residential Program for New Upperclass Students in Gooch/Dillard is staffed by Resident Staff members (RAs) from the Residence Life Office, and supported by the Transfer Student Peer Advisors (TSPA) from the Office of Orientation and New Student Programs. The RAs coordinate events designed to:

  • initiate interaction and involvement for transfer students,
  • connect transfer students with internship and study abroad opportunities
  • assist newly transferred students navigate U.Va.
