MUSIC SUPPLEMENT [SUBMISSION GUIDELINES]

Students with talent in musical performance or composition may supplement their applications with a sound recording (CD preferred) or musical score. One sound recording per instrument please. It is fine, however, to submit multiple supplements (thus multiple sound recordings) if you have multiple abilities. Sound recordings must isolate and highlight the applicant. Group performances that obscure the ability to assess an individual's level of talent will not receive evaluation. Length of supplement sound recordings should not exceed 15 minutes. Choose two or three contrasting selections (style, rhythm, etc.) or portions thereof to perform. Submissions should be clearly labeled with full name of applicant, date of birth, and instrument or voice part. Also, indicate whether you are applying Regular Decision or for Transfer Admission. YOU MUST provide information about track numbers on the sound recording including selection name, composer of selection, and other personnel. Vocalists may sing in English or in another language. Composers should send a copy or one or two scores that are representative of their recent work, and, whenever possible, an audio recording of the works submitted. You may include a short cover letter and/or resume of works played, and performance/musical experiences. Remember, use the mailing label below and do not submit originals as materials will not be returned.
