What about student self-governance?

The quality of student life at U.Va. is largely determined by students themselves. Students' choices do matter and when given the opportunity, U.Va. students take ownership for their decisions. Student Council, the Honor Committee, and the Judiciary Committee are student-run organizations. The U.Va. tradition of student self-governance gives students a remarkable level of autonomy and provides opportunities for developing leadership and management skills that can be as valuable as any learning experience in the classroom.
