What can I do at U.Va.?
Make a new friend Visiting students often note the students' friendliness here as an influence on their decision to attend.
Take in the scenery The New York Times described the Grounds as "the greatest campus plan in the history of American architecture."
Get into the arts Whether it's music, drama, studio art, architecture, film, or dance, the arts will keep you busy.
Get pumped Even if you're not a big sports fan, the excitement is contagious.
Run with a roommate Trying to stay in shape is easier when you're not alone.
See a show Major acts and student performers alike can be seen and heard throughout the year.
Most students get involved in several organizations on Grounds. You can pick one from a list of almost 500 or create your own. Offerings include organizations such as Dance Marathon, Fencing Club, Japanese Club, National Society of Black Engineers, Shakespeare on the Lawn, and WUVA or WTJU-FM, the two campus radio stations.
See www.virginia.edu/newcomb/sac/ for the complete list of organizations.
The University tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, and gyms stay busy all year. If you still need something to do, you could attend a production at U.Va.'s Culbreth or Helms theatres or a musical performance at Old Cabell Hall.
You'll want to check the calendar for workshops and lectures lead by artists, writers, politicians, activists, scientists, educators, and business leaders from all over the world.
