The Campaign for the University of Virginia > Goals & Priorities

The $3 billion goal for the campaign encompasses the carefully selected needs of every school and program on Grounds, as well as larger institution-
wide priorities. In addition, the University is seeking totally unrestricted support to sustain day-to-day operations and to capitalize on emerging opportunities.


The funding goals fall into the following categories:

For the University Experience: $1.474 billion

  • Scholarships and Fellowships: $525 million
  • Professorships and Other Support for Faculty: $91 million
  • New and Expanded Facilities: $538 million
  • New and Expanded Programs: $320 million

For Research, Discovery & Creativity: $923 million

  • Endowment for Faculty, Students, Visiting Scholars: $389 million
  • Endowment for Programs: $231 million
  • New Laboratories and Other Research Facilities: $270 million
  • New Research Initiatives: $33 million

For Serving a Global Society: $603 million

  • Health Care: $422 million
  • Centers and Institutes: $90 million
  • Public Engagement Initiatives: $91 million

For Unrestricted Operating Support, including
endowments & annual giving: $100 million
