Athletics Advisory Council
Charge
The Athletics Advisory Council (AAC) is charged with reviewing and recommending policy regarding the Department of Athletics to the Director of Athletics Programs and the President, advising the Director of Athletics Programs concerning all major decisions affecting the administration of the Department, and referring to the Board of Visitors through the President, for its consideration, questions of policy deemed by the AAC to be appropriate for Board action. The Director of Athletics Programs reports to the Council at each meeting concerning his/her administration of the Department and suggests to the Council for its discussion and for advisory action any questions then existing or anticipated by the Director as likely to arise prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Committee Structure
The Council consists of 17 faculty/staff members including the following:
- Faculty Athletics Representative
- Representative of the Office of the President
- Representative of the Office of University Admission
- U.Va. Alumni Association Representative
- Representative of the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer
- Virginia Athletics Foundation Representative
In addition, a representative of the Faculty Senate and the Director of Athletics Programs serve as ex-officio members. The two student members include the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and an at-large member.
