University Committee on Information Technology
Charge
Through the University's Vice President for Information Technology and Communication and Chief Information Officer, the University Committee on Information Technology provides guidance, advice, and assistance to the President, the President's Cabinet, and the senior information technology officers on matters affecting information technology and communication, including data, voice, and video.
The focus of the Committee is on the overall information technology environment at the University and on taking a pro-active, leadership role in shaping University thinking on technology issues.
The Committee gathers institutional input, investigatse new technologies as they emerge, provides constructive contributions to the planning processes of all technology-related organizations, and assists University leaders in developing and updating a strategic plan for information technology and communication at the University.
The Chair of the Committee provides regular reports to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer on Committee activities.
Committee Structure:
The Committee consists of:
- Chair of the Administrative Computing Council
- Past year's Committee chair
- Four at-large faculty/staff members appointed by the President
- One at-large student member appointed by the President
The Committee also includes the chairs of expert groups,
appointed by the Committee in consultation with the Vice President
and Chief Information Officer, and representatives from the Faculty
Senate, Health Sciences Information Technology Committee, and the
University Libraries Committee designated by those bodies.
