John Merchant and Jim Trice address Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Board9/29/06 - The Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Fund was founded in 1987 and is named for the first black graduate of the University. This is the first time Ridley has been invited to participate in the University's Capital Campaign, and to start this historic event, John F. Merchant gave the keynote address to Ridley supporters and students about the importance to make it successful. Scholarship founder and first black Law School graduate, John F. Merchant ('58) and Jim Trice ('63) spoke at the kick-off weekend, which was also attended by President John Casteen. |
