As Secretary, Dr. Harvey is responsible for the Department of the Army's annual budget and supplemental of $160 billion. He leads a work force of over one million active duty, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve Soldiers, 230,000 Department of the Army civilian employees and 280,000 contracted service personnel. |

Fall Convocation 10/20/06 - The Fall Convocation features the awarding of Intermediate Honors to 364 third-year undergraduates, and the awarding of one of the University's most prestigious awards. John Casteen introduces the ceremony, which features a speech by Vice President for Diversity and Equity, William Harvey. Harvey's topic is "Figuring Out How the World Works: What I Learned from the Soap Operas."
The Thomas Jefferson Award is given this year to Edward Ayers, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. |
