Researchers have struggled for more than 50 years to build machines that work like the human brain. But even the most advanced supercomputers don’t come close to the brain in terms of computational efficiency. Now an interdisciplinary U.Va. research team is tackling this elusive challenge.
If food could be pure, what would it be? Raw, uncooked vegetables? What does "natural" mean? What is "pure"? And, is nature pure? A fellowship at the Smithsonian Institution this summer is helping Benjamin Cohen, a U.Va. assistant professor of science, technology and society, find the answers.
