The Virginia Folklife Program put on a great show at the Richmond Folk Festival Oct. 9-11.

The theme of the Virginia Folklife area, Sacred Sounds - Sacred Spaces, explored the spiritual roots of Virginia's dazzlingly diverse communities.

African-American Gospel, Virginia Indian drum and dance, Sephardic Jewish balladry, Laotian Buddhist chanting, Old Regular Baptist singing and more could be heard on the Virginia Folklife stage.

EdUI 2009 Recap
Conference for Web Professionals

VFH was pleased to co-host the EdUI 2009 Conference in cooperation with the University of Virginia, Sept. 21-22.

This conference focused on helping web professionals working in higher education and digital scholarship make their web sites easier to use and more accessible by everyone.

The more than 180 web professionals attending the two-day EdUI conference were enthusiastic about the mix of workshops, speakers and networking opportunities.

Ninety percent of the audience came from libraries, colleges and businesses right here in Virginia, but attendees also came from as far away as New York, Illinois, Florida and Massachusetts.

Plans are already underway for repeating this success in 2010!
