Sandra E. Greene
Visiting lecturer on memories of slaving gender in Africa and the Americas.  Greene, Professor and former chair of the Department of History at Cornell University, earned her PhD in African history (Northwestern University, 1981) and is the author of a well-regarded, and distinctive, history of gender in West Africa during the era of slaving.  Her recent research has contributed formatively to rapidly developing insights into the experiences of the slaving era.   She presided over the African Studies Association in 1998.  She returns from stimulating performances in the ROOTS Institute in 2001 and the Seminar in 2003.
