Public Service And the University of Virginia An extensive background study conducted by external consultants to assist the commission in defining issues, reviewing relevant publications, identifying model practices throughout the nation, examining the needs of Virginia, and reviewing the adequacy of current efforts to acknowledge public service and outreach as a University priority. Exploratory Groups for Public Service and Outreach Planning Commission Plan developed by commission to guide its research and development of recommendations during spring/summer 1999. Strategic Planning Report Of The Faculty Senate Task Force Committee On The Faculty’s Role In Performing Service, - November 1991 Recommendations from this study reflect earlier efforts on the part of University faculty to define, value, and promote public service efforts. Recommendations from this report continue to be relevant in the commission’s work today.
