Letter from the Chair of the Commission:

Welcome to the Commission on Public Service and Outreach, part of President Casteen’s strategic planning initiative for U.Va.’s third century. This website provides information about our commission’s meetings, research, and plans.

You’ll find an excellent overview of public service at the University in a report prepared for the commission by external consultants in fall 1998. To see the issues that the commission has decided to explore, read the overview of our exploratory groups. Reports from these groups can be found in our documents section.

I encourage you to explore this site and let me know of your thoughts and suggestions. Our commission’s primary mission is to improve and enhance the ways in which U.Va. makes life better for those living in Virginia and beyond. Your comments are an important part of that work.
