The Senior Vice President for University Advancement supports the University’s threefold mission of teaching, research, and
public service by providing resources and services to development offices
around the University Grounds, and by establishing policies and procedures.
The Office of University Advancement undertakes regional fundraising and
engagement, planned and annual giving, corporate and foundation relations as
well as provides support through information services, research, gift
accounting, and donor relations. In cooperation with academic units and
related foundations, the Office also institutes policies for the conduct of
development activities.
Also under the auspices of the senior vice president is Public Affairs,
which provides a variety of public relations activities, strategic
communications, community relations, and marketing initiatives for the
University, designed to increase public awareness and understanding of
programs in classrooms, research labs, and other public service activities.
Public Affairs’ functions include Community Relations, Marketing, Media
Relations, Interactive Media, Editorial and Design, Audio and video, and Web
Communications.
The mission of University Advancement is to ensure the University of
Virginia’s future by engaging our constituents, telling the University’s
story, and inspiring the minds, hearts and generous support of those we
serve.
