Ivy Biomedical Innovation Fund
The Ivy Biomedical Innovation Fund was created by The Ivy Foundation to support biomedical innovation and translational research projects at the University of Virginia. Funds are provided by The Ivy Foundation and by Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate Office of Science and Technology.
In 2011, during its third year of funding, the program awarded six projects averaging $50,000 each for 12 months. The award size is flexible and is commensurate with the project stage and may range from $20,000 to $80,000. To generate especially novel and compelling ideas, we encourage projects that involve faculty co-investigators from multiple departments, schools, or specialties at U.Va. We also welcome proposals from individual investigators or teams from single departments that are appropriate for a given innovation project.
The goal of this program is to support research projects that address unmet clinical needs and lead to improvements in health care. Examples of desirable outcomes include improved diagnosis and treatment of disease through inventions and patents, commercial products, commercial partnerships, licenses and start-up companies.
Eligibility: Permanent, full-time, tenure-track faculty at each professorial rank (assistant, associate, or full professor).
