Our staff fully understands that diversity in all of its dimensions aids in creating a truly pluralistic society. And to that end, we work tirelessly to ensure a multiculturally rich and inclusive learning community. We want all graduate students to feel respected and be able to fully participate in the scholarly climate provided by the University of Virginia. Here are some ongoing issues or services that our office is involved with and/or provides:
Being a diversity resource for prospective and current graduate students, faculty, and staff
Attending graduate fairs, conferences, and symposiums to provide valuable information about the University of Virginia and its commitment to diverse graduate education
Aiding students with the process of applying to graduate school and in finding adequate funding for their academic endeavors
Advise and recommend programs and policies to assist graduate departments in recruiting efforts
Continuously assessing the level of graduate diversity and ways to improve it
Ensuring diverse graduate students have equal access to various educational opportunities
