Dr. Victoria F.
Norwood is Associate Professor of Pediatrics
and Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology at the University
of Virginia Childrenís Medical Center. Dr. Norwoodís
research efforts focus on mechanisms of mammalian renal development
and maldevelopment. Specific areas of concentration are
mechanisms of cyclooxygenase-2 and eicosanoid regulation of
kidney development and function as well as the interactions
of COX-2 with the developmental functions of the renin-angiotensin
system. Using murine models, the molecular, biochemical,
architectural, and physiological effects of these vasoactive
substances are explored with the ultimate goal of better understanding
of human renal malformations.
