The first annual U.Va. Venture Summit featured U.Va. thought-leaders on forefront topics, venture capitalists and alumni from top investment firms across the nation, fascinating discussions with inventors and researchers, and relationship-building opportunities with the University and with participating leaders from the venture community.
In the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, the weekend blended forward-thinking energy with the storied history of the University.
This historic event included two events that were open to the public:
Friday, April 3, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - “Is the Venture Model Broken?”
Presentations by U.Va. thought-leaders and a venture capitalist panel discussion. View a flyer for this event.
VC panelists: Peter Barris and Chuck Newhall (NEA), Jim Blair (Domain Associates), Ed Glassmeyer (Oak Investment Partners), and Ashton Newhall (Montagu Newhall Associates).
U.Va. faculty participants: Joe Campbell Ph.D., Electrical and Computer Engineering; Stephen Rich M.D., Director-Center for Public Health Geonomics; Andrew Grimshaw, Ph.D., Computer Science; and Brent Gunnoe, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry.
