Subject: Update Contact Information Now

Dear Students:

Nothing is more important to me than your personal safety and our ability to communicate with you in the event of an emergency. The University affords every enrolled student the opportunity and means to list current contact information in the Student Information System (SIS). The University relies on this information to contact you in the event of an emergency, and to communicate with you regarding official University business.

I urge you to follow the directions below to validate or update your local mailing address, preferred telephone number, and emergency contact information in the SIS.

Whether you live on or off Grounds, the University Police Department and Office of the Dean of Students will use this information and coordinate efforts to help locate you in the event you go missing. For students living in University housing, the Dean of Students or his/her designee will also use this information to notify your emergency contact if you are reported missing and cannot be found for more than 24 hours. If you are under 18 years of age and not emancipated, the Dean of Students will also notify your custodial parent or guardian. The University implemented these notification procedures to comply with the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008.

Please take the opportunity now to validate or update your contact information in the SIS.

Sincerely,

Patricia M. Lampkin

Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer
