The Office of the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer seeks to promote positive, healthy avenues of engagement in University life and, specifically, on-Grounds activities of interest to students as alternatives to events that involve alcohol.

We fund a wide variety of programs that loosely fall into six categories:

  • Social
  • Educational/Academic
  • Cultural
  • Service
  • Conference/Retreat
  • Other (Publications, etc.)

Program funding is event-specific, and may only be used to pay pre-approved expenses for that event. Funds may not be used for ongoing operating expenses. Each award closes 60 days after conclusion of the event or June 1st, whichever comes first, at which time any unused balance is released back to the programming fund to support other awards.

Please note that there should be no expectation of continued or recurring funding for any specific event or type of event, regardless of its relative merit or success. A new application must be made for each event, and there may be different outcomes for similar proposals semester to semester or year to year, depending on availability of funds, equity across the University community, etc.

We DO NOT fund:

  • Events at which alcohol is served
  • Ongoing operating funds for student organizations
