(Map G, Building 17 [A3])

Gilmer Hall houses the Biology and Psychology departments and research facilities. The building was designed in 1961-63 by Richmond architects Ballou and Justice with W. E. Stainback (Col '28) and Louie L. Scribner (Col '29). An addition to the building was completed in 1987. The building is named for Francis Walker Gilmer, who helped Jefferson recruit the University's original faculty. Had he not died young, Gilmer would have been the University's first law professor.
