The Astronomy Building houses the classrooms, offices, and research facilities
of the Department of Astronomy, which also maintains the Fan Mountain
and McCormick observatories, the Virginia Institute for Theoretical Astronomy,
and the Virginia Astronomical Instrumentation Laboratory. It is also the home for the Air Force and Army ROTC programs. Constructed
in 1952, this building previously housed Forestry and Natural Resources.
