Visiting Scholars Program

The Carter G. Woodson Institute invites scholars working in African American and African Studies to apply for short-term or long-term residential affiliations as visiting scholars. The Institute will provide each visiting scholar with a work station, computer, and access to office equipment (fax, telephone, copier). Visiting scholars are expected to make an informal presentation of their research to the Woodson fellows. Applications for long-term residency will be considered in the Spring (June 15 deadline) and Fall (Nov. 1 deadline). Applications for short-term residency will be considered year-round. Applicants should send a curriculum vita; a letter outlining their research plans; and a letter of recommendation to: Visiting Scholars Program, Carter G. Woodson Institute for Afro-American and African Studies, 108 Minor Hall, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
