Public Transit:
A Convenient Alternative
Public transit is a widely available resource for commuters that is inexpensive or, in some cases, free. Charlottesville Transit Service (CTS) and University Transit Service (UTS) work together to offer free bus service to virtually anywhere in Charlottesville. While UTS is always offers free rides for U.Va faculty, staff, and students, CTS is now currently offering free rides if you have your valid U.Va ID. Learn more here. |

UTS is run by the U.Va's Department of Parking & Transportation. UTS services virtually all areas of U.Va's Grounds, and caters specifically to students and faculty/staff commuters. |
JAUNT is a regional transportation provider for Charlottesville, Albermarle, Fluvanna, Louisa, Nelson, Buckingham, and Amherst Counties. |
CTS is a city-run public transit service that services virtually all of Charlottesville, including many areas on Grounds.

Home Ride provides weekend and holiday bus service from U.Va, VT, Radford, and JMU to many areas of Virginia including Northern Virginia, Richmond, Harrisonburg, and Charlottesville. |
Greene County Transit is a "demand-response" public transportation system for the County of Greene. Service is provided for the elderly, disabled, children, workers, and any other transportation needs to the residents of Greene to any area in Greene County on a "call-in" basis. |
VRT is a non-profit community transportation service provider serving fifteen jurisdictions, including Loudoun, Fauquier, Culpeper, Orange, Clarke, Frederick, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, and Highland. |

GrandDriver is an initiative of the Virginia Department for the Aging offering an educational resource designed to provide Virginians with information and resources about staying safe and mobile as they age. Seniors can search by region for ride share programs and public transportation systems. |

Happy Rickshaw is a pedicab service operated by two U.Va grads. 18 happy guys and gals pedal bicycle taxis around Charlottesville. A ride generally costs around $2-$7 per person, and the drivers keep most of their earnings. |
Go Green is a hybrid transportation service located in Charlottesville serving the surrounding areas and promoting awareness for the environment by driving vehicles that operate with an alternate fuel source. |
