Personal Safety Precautions

By choosing to stay in on-Grounds housing before the Fall Semester Opening, you understand that you are accepting responsibility to ensure your personal safety. There will be fewer students on Grounds during this time period, so be aware of your surroundings at all times and take the following precautions:

  • Contact the University Police at 911 to report anything suspicious, or at any time you think your personal safety may be at risk.
  • Be aware of who is in common areas, hallways and bathrooms before entering.
  • Plan ahead to insure that you do not walk alone in the dark.
  • Keep your room/suite or apartment door closed and locked at all times. This includes when you are in the room.
  • Do not leave any windows open or unlocked.
  • Do not let anyone into the building. Students authorized to stay must use their own access card to gain entrance.
  • Non-resident guests are not allowed to enter the buildings during the early arrival period.
Facility/Service Conditions:
  • On-Grounds dining facilities will be closed. Contact Dining Services for more information.
  • On-Grounds bus service will be limited. See Parking and Transportation for schedules.
  • Report all doors, locks, windows or lights in need of repair to the Facilities Service Desk.
  • Fire alarm testing, cleaning, repair and renovation projects may be conducted in all facilities prior to Opening.
