Our goal is to stimulate interdisciplinary, innovative research and education related to aging issues. We support collaboration of U.Va. faculty across all disciplines to address critical issues affecting the aging population such as quality of life, health care, housing, and public policy.

Alzheimer's Conference on Alzheimer's Disease and
Related Disorders
Sponsor's Hall-Darden School of Business
The conference will feature Dr. Steven T. DeKosky, the new Vice President and Dean of the U.Va. School of Medicine. Dr. DeKosky is a preeminent expert on “translational” research which brings knowledge more quickly from the research lab to patients’ bedsides. Dr. Gary Small, Director of the UCLA Center on Aging and the author of the bestselling book The Memory Bible will deliver a major talk on breakthrough technologies allowing physicians to detect Alzheimer’s years before patients start showing symptoms.
The conference will be held Saturday, June 20 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Darden School of Business. It is jointly sponsored by the University’s Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter. The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Geriatric Care and Training Initiative of the Virginia Center on Aging is supporting the conference.
Primary care physicians, neurologists, nurse practitioners, long-term care senior staff, and faculty and students from Virginia universities will be among those attending.
