Biographical Sketch

Sudhanva Gurumurthi received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2005. He joined the University of Virginia in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. He received the NSF CAREER Award in 2007, the CSE Research Assistant Award in 2004, and the Robert M. Owens Memorial Scholarship in 2003. Sudhanva has worked at the IBM Austin Research Lab and Intel Massachusetts and is a faculty consultant for Intel. He has served on the technical program committees of several top conferences, including ISCA, ASPLOS, FAST, and SIGMETRICS and he is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of Computer Architecture Letters. Sudhanva is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the ACM and USENIX.

Gurumurthi works in the area of computer architecture. His research group is currently exploring issues related to data center energy management, silicon reliability, and memory systems and I/O. Gurumurthi's research contributions include complete-machine power simulation, Dynamic RPM (DRPM) disk drives, Intra-Disk Parallelism, temperature modeling and management of storage systems, techniques to improve Redundant Multi-Threading, runtime AVF estimation techniques, and non-volatile memory hierarchy design. His research is funded by the National Science Foundation, Intel, Google, and Hewlett-Packard.
