While the number and percentage of minority women obtaining PhD's in STEM fields has steadily increased, their entry, retention and advancement in the professorate has not kept pace. In an effort to ameliorate some of the complex reasons behind this disparity, faculty members from the University of Virginia, Norfolk State University and Virginia Commonwealth University, developed this workshop to serve as a catalyst for building alliances of academic women in STEM.
