1) General Info:

A & B are a great combination if you want to highlight internship info to your students. And if you have a target audience, we’d love some extra PR for the health professions and law advising opportunities at the end of this document.

a. Essential Internship Search Tours
October 29th – November 9th
Various Times; University Career Services in Bryant Hall
Looking for an internship? Sign up for one of these group sessions so a UCS Career Peer Educator can orient you to valuable online and print resources and alumni contacts. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. These orientation tours will help you begin your internship search or supplement your current list of resources and opportunities. Space is limited in each session, and pre-registration is required. Pre-register by going to

b. Summer 2013 Internships
If you are thinking ahead to next summer, know that employers have already listed internship opportunities in CAVLink — and 170+ of the current postings have application deadlines before December 14th! To apply for many of these opportunities, you must have access to the On-Grounds Interviewing (OGI) portion of CAVLink – You can complete the OGI orientation process online today! CAVLink accounts will be activated for OGI access within one business day after you complete the orientation. Just visit our web site:

c. Drop-In Career Advising Hours on Central Grounds Located in 263 Monroe Hall
Drop-In Hours are 10-15 minutes in length, and are designed for quick questions, no appointment necessary

d. Mark Your Calendars for Recruiting Presentations
Company representatives from consulting firms, investment banks, and other industries will be on or near Grounds in the coming weeks to discuss their organization with you. Take advantage of these opportunities to speak with someone face-to-face — ask your questions, market your experience and skills, and leave a positive impression. Go to the UCS calendar and select “show employer presentations” in the top right corner for additional details. You may also go directly to the CAVLink Calendar to view the list of employers on-Grounds each week. a. Am I Doing This Right?: Searching and Interviewing for Opportunities
Mon Nov 5; Tues Nov 13
Join UCS for a “hands on” session geared to demystify the challenges of using technology to find the right job or internship. We’ll discuss how to make the best use of UCS Resources, completing phone interviews with ease, and mastering an on camera presence for a Skype interview. Each session is different, so attend one or all of them!

3) Pre-Law and Health Professions Advising

a. Health Professions Application Process Meeting Part One

Presentation begins at 5pm
Group Advising to follow presentation
This program is essential to any student who is planning to apply to a school for the health professions in the 2013-2014 cycle. This program will feature an explanation of the application time-line and equip students with the information needed to be organized in the application process. Following the presentation the Health Professions Advisors will hold a thirty minute group advising session in which questions will be answered. Both the October 1st and November 6th presentation feature the same content so choose one session which works best for your schedule.

b. Law School Personal Statement Workshop
Tuesday, November 6th
UCS Conference Room
12pm to 1pm
This program will help law school applicants have a better understanding of the purpose of the personal statement. We will address the do’s and don’t's of personal statement writing and discuss ways to get started. Those who already have a draft of their personal are also welcome to attend. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
