Orientation and New Student Programs (ONSP), a unit of the Office of the Dean of Students, assists first year and transfer students in making a successful academic, intellectual and social transition to the University. New student orientation programs during the summer and fall and Family Weekend are just some of the programs and initiatives designed to strengthen students’ connection to the University.

Each school, department and program has its own set of welcome and orientation activities for new graduate students. The University also provides a Graduate Guide to provide incoming graduate students with information about getting settled in Charlottesville.
