Records Management at the University of Virginia
The University of Virginia is a state agency, and its offices and departments are obligated to follow the requirements of the Virginia Public Records Act (Code of Virginia, Chapter 7) for retention and disposition of records.
The Records Management Office is firmly committed to excellence in the records management services we provide to our customers (including University faculty, staff, students and the citizens of Virginia). Our primary goal is that all records, in all formats, be efficiently managed, retained and destroyed in compliance with all administrative, audit, legal, financial, historical, and research policies and regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the University of Virginia.

Upcoming Records Management Training
If it's been over a year since you took a Records Mgmt class, we are offering Refresher classes to bring you up to speed. You will need to take either a full Records Mgmt or Refresher class before taking an URMA class.
All classes are in Newcomb Hall.
Registration is through IS Self Service.
URMA for Research is designed for those dealing with clinical trials, grants, and other funded research. URMA Basics is for all other users. You should attend one or the other - not both. If you are unsure which would be best for you, contact the Univ. Records Office.
All classes are held at 2400 Old Ivy Rd., Rm 136
